BotBash began in 1997 as a small event in the Phoenix, Arizona area, and grew to be a multi-day, well-attended competition attracting the top international competitors. The BotBash competitions consisted of a number of different combat games played by randomly assigned teams of two robots. Teams were re-assigned as the tournament progressed and a scoring system tracked points for individual robots.
The final BotBash event took place in 2002.
