Son of Whyachi
From Combat Robot
'Son of Whyachi' was the BattleBots 3.0 heavyweight champion (2001), defeating BioHazard in the final match.
Weighing 340 pounds, SOW was allowed to compete as a heavyweight because the shufflebot drivetrain it employed was considered to be a walker and was given a bonus weight allownce under the then-current rules. The rules were changed for the following season.
The rotary weapon on SOW weighed 120 pounds and was powered by twin internal combustion engines producing a total 30 horsepower.
SOW, based out of Wisconsin, was one of only two combat robots from outside the state of California to win a BattleBots championship. The other was the Canadian middleweight Son of Smashy.
Son of Whyachi is an inaugural member of The Combat Robot Hall of Fame.
