Flipper

A higher-power sub-class of the lifter, the flipper is a weapon designed to get underneath and lift your opponent so quickly that they are thrown forcibly into the air. Power for the flipper is typically provided by a pneumatic cylinder connected to a source of high pressure gas via a high flow rate valve -- although a very few flippers have used stored mechanical force in the form of a spring.
Flippers were very popular in the later Robot Wars competitions, where a victory could be achieved by tossing your opponent into the gap between the low arena wall and the plastic containment barrier. Flippers are increasingly popular in the Sozbots antweight competitions, where a similar arena gap exists.
