Death spin
From Combat Robot
Death spin is a term for an uncontrollable positive-feedback induced spin when an invertible gyro-stabliized robot is flipped over. The inverted gyro senses a direction change but, because of the inversion, the correction signal sent to the motor controllers is reversed resulting in greater direction change rather than less.
Some gyros have an additional input channel that can reverse the correction signal if inverted.
