Robotics use of CNC

CNC stands for Computer Numeric Control. The title is somewhat ambiguous, especially in the so-called current 'digital age'. As relates to combat robots and part production, however, it defines a method of machining in which a computer controls the movements of a mill, lathe, or router table, usually to form complex and precise shapes unachievable by hand. With CNC machining, amazing shapes are possible- full, complex splines and smooth surfaces can be cut out of materials, as well as lettering and symbols.

Other Uses

CNC is not limited to milling machines- it applies to a huge spectrum of machines used to create and move parts- from laser-cutting machines like those at Pololu to the heavy-duty abrasion waterjet machines at Paradise Water Jet, as well as processing and manufacturing equipment.
